This has been a roller coaster of disappointment except all the falls don’t cause me to throw my hands in the air and scream. No bike for me.. apparently the 5000 dollar loan disappears when you buy a more expensive bike and have cash to cover the rest. Apparently they will only loan me half when it increases in value. The absence of credit really tosses this for a loop. I guess I am screwed again by the banks. I guess I am just going to save up for a used bike and pay for it in cash.
Funny thing is, if I was 18, they would have thrown credit at me since they assume parents would just cover the bills. Now that I am making a great amount of money and have the ability to pay for things, I cant even get a loan.
Wonderful. I guess it really doesn’t matter since riding season is almost 4 months away.
Ugh, I hate banks. Try getting a loan from a bank for $5k to buy a car. It’s unheard of.
“We could loan you $15k to 35k for a car sir”
Dammit, I want a carpayment not a stinking mortgage.
Bankers, Realors, Car Salesmen, leaches, tapeworms and parasites.
The whole lot of em. Have you checked around on craigslist? What kinda of bike are you looking for? Know anything about mechanics? You might be able to find a nice winter project to get fixed up and running. For a bout three months I was in love with the kikker 5150, google it they are cool looking. If I were in a position that a scooter were in my future I’d look at one those as a manly alternative! Pluys they are supposed to be doing a 200 cc engine, which would open it up a bit powerwise, plus some clowns are putting bigger engines in them.
@Thomas: Wow that thing is oldschool.
I am looking for more of a middle of the road sport bike for my first. I actually know of a 04 Katana that I will most likely purchase in a few months.
Sweet!
I’ve never been that comfortable with that kinda horse power to close to my testicles, but I’m gonna have to get over it if I too want a motor bike someday.
@Thomas: My new goal seems to be more realistic, a 04 suzuki katana. Its carborated (which kind of sucks) but it will be a great starter bike.
Kraze, It can definitely be hard to get a motorcycle loan, ESPECIALLY when you’re young!
On my ’02 Kawi 500R that would NOT approve me for a loan even WITH a co-signor on it. The only way I was able to buy it is I got a loan from a family member and wrote them a check every month.
On my ’04 Kawi ZX6R, they wouldn’t approve me alone. I was 21 at that time and actually had a pretty good credit score for a 21 year old. I was able to get my Dad to co-sign on that loan and they finally did approve it. When I was 23 I was able to get a loan 100% on my own for a car.
It’s all about building credit history as well as keeping a good score. A 700+ credit rating doesn’t mean shit when you’re 21.
It sucks ass, but that is how it is :-\
Good luck on your 2-wheeled endeavor, and on 2 wheels it’s good to start light anyway. It doesn’t matter what you’re riding, as long as you’re riding. Let me know when you get the 2 wheeled machine and we’ll go for a cruise some time.
@Nick: Yea, im saving up and contacting my bank so secure something that would build credit.
