How can I be healthy if I hate it?
I looked in the mirror last night and im not surprisingly happy with the outcome. Everyone seems to be trying to better themselves and Adam over at adamriggins.com got me to thinking about my own well being. Well a diet would be nice, but with my small palette this may be a difficult step to getting healthier.
Just an example, today at work we decided to order deli sandwiches from a local shop called jimmyjohns. We all got sandwiches and I ordered my usual “slim” which is just a slab or meat and cheese between buns. It got here “freaky fast” and when I took a bite into the sandwich I wanted to gag.
You see I am one of those small numbers of people who absolutely hate greens. The thought of them makes me sick, tasting them seems to be worse than something on fear factor. I immediately started disassembling the sandwich and removing all the gross contents. I started to eat the mangled sandwich, sick to my stomach that this horrible crap was once on in it. The reminisce lingered but I managed to finish it.
I still feel sick, and this is irrational.. was I traumatized away from vegetables?
I want to eat healthier but I am finding it hard to do.

seriously man, I hate veggies as well. I eat a lot of fruit instead, and that helps settle a sweet craving. The rest is just “healthy” fast food (Subway, certain things at McDonalds). Email me for more details. It’s actually kind of easy!

@Adam Better yet, make a blog post about it! I am sure others would be interested as well!

Despite all logic, coffee, pop tarts and cigarettes are NOT the breakfast of champions.
But at least its not Soylent Green… but seriously, I really need to change my eating habits

Soylent Green is good. I am going to try the “drink two glasses of water before you eat” dodad. Funny, My stomach must be huge, because I eat 2 pounds of food and 64 ounces of drink in a sitting usually.

Try hiding it in food. Grinding is up tiny so that you can’t see or feel it. That will help. I have to do that with quite a few veggies that I can’t stand the texture of. Also try dehydrated versions and other prep methods that change the way the veggie feels in your mouth. Taste usually isn’t the issue so much as texture and smell.

Can we start a veggie haters support group? Although I like salads (lettuce & cheese), I *HATE* all other vegetables in the world. YUCK.
The other day I accidentally wandered into a Central Market (never had been before). But I walked into the vegetable section first, which is an old room full of fresh veggies of every kind. Most people like it. I looked around and thought, “I’ve wandered into hell!!!!”

@Jamie Doesnt that defeat the purpose of eating them at all? Then again I do the same thing, I either use the juices or a powdered or paste form of a vegtable to get around them!
@Dube I guess.. but im already the president of I hate koolaid. Hell is when you go to somones house and they make something covered in vegtables and you either have to lie and eat later or pick at it!
